TRI CAAS Leads International Dialogue as Global Tea Research Institutes Unite in Fuzhou
FUZHOU, China - The Tea Research Institute of CAAS, together with the China Tea Science Society, hosted the 6th Global Forum for Directors of Tea Research Institutes from 15-17 October 2025 in Fuzhou. The event gathered over 200 leaders and experts from 13 countries, along with representatives from 17 provincial tea research institutions and tea-related universities/colleges across China.
Prof. Dr. SUN Tan, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, addressed the opening session. In his remarks, he emphasized CAAS's commitment to strengthening global research networks and leveraging the Forum as a key platform for advancing international collaboration in tea science and industry development.
The Forum was co-organized by the Tea Research Institute of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences. Over three days, participants engaged in focused discussions on climate-resilient tea production, green technologies, and youth talent development. A roundtable on international cooperation identified concrete pathways for joint research projects, capacity building, and innovation in support of sustainable tea sector growth. In a collective statement, participants also endorsed enhanced Belt and Road collaboration in germplasm sharing, digital trade, and cultural exchange to foster an inclusive and resilient global tea industry.
The Global Forum for Directors of Tea Research Institutes was initiated by TRI CAAS and continues to serve as a vital mechanism for high-level dialogue and coordination among the world's leading tea research institutions.
