On July 9, Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), met with Ms. Yang Hua, Director of South-South and Triangular Cooperation Division (PST), Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and her delegation. The two sides exchanged views on further deepening South-South cooperation and advancing the development of joint innovation platforms.

Prof. Sunnoted that the FAO–CAAS Innovation Platform serves as an important mechanism for cooperation between the two organizations. Building on this framework, the two sides should further strengthen cooperation in the design and implementation of South-South cooperation projects, the establishment of FAO Reference Centres, the joint organization of major events, and regular personnel exchanges.

Ms. Yangexpressed her support for further strengthening cooperation between the two sides. She noted that both sides should jointly expand access to resources, including global development and South-South cooperation programmes supported by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA), while further strengthening policy coordination and institutional cooperation.

Mr. Xu Ming, Assistant Representative of the FAO Representation in China, and representatives from the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS attended the meeting.
