2013 Conference of Global DNDC Network held in Beijing
The 2013 Conference of Global DNDC (Denitrification-Decomposition) Network was held from September 14 to 19 in Beijing. The conference was organized by Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IARRP-CAAS). About 100 participants from 15 countries including the US, Brazil, British and Japan, etc. attended the conference.

Main topics of the conference includes: (1) the latest developments of DNDC on modeling ecosystem productivity, carbon sequestration, methane and nitrous oxide emissions, and nutrient leaching for cropping and livestock agro-ecosystems; (2) DNDC calibration/validation/sensitivity tests at field or farm scale on carbon and nitrogen cycles in the plant-soil-water systems; (3) DNDC applications at watershed, regional or global scale for estimating impacts of climate or management change on agricultural production, carbon sequestration and greenhouse gas emissions, and nutrient loading to water bodies.
DNDC is one of the most widely used biogeochemical models for carbon and nitrogen cycles simulation in terrestrial ecosystem. During the past decade, about 400 peer-reviewed papers related to DNDC studies have been published in English and other languages by researchers across more than 20 countries. The research team of Professor Qiu Jianjun of IARRP-CAAS has closely cooperated over 20 years with Mr. Li Changsheng, who is the founder of DNDC.
The Global DNDC Network was launched in New Zealand in 2009 to provide an international forum for the DNDC researchers and model developers, and the first conference was held by the Landcare Research in New Zealand in the same year.
