Networking for food security research
APEC Food Security Training and Workshop was held in Beijing from September7-9, 2015. Supported by China-APEC Cooperation Fund of the Ministry of Finance of China and hosted by the Agricultural Information Institute (AII) of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS), the workshop aimed to implement the consensus of the third APEC Food Security Ministerial Meeting in 2014 and to build a regional platform to exchange thoughts and ideas on food security issues.


The workshop covers the topics on food value chain, market and trade, food security and nutrition, resilience and outlooks, more than 60 experts and young researchers from Chile, Peru, Papua New Guinea, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Vietnam and China attended this event. The workshop explored into the assessment methods, policies and impact evaluation for food security and shared good practices of APEC economies to safeguard food security. Interactive roundtable discussions were also held to summarize the regional experiences on dealing with climate change and food security issues.
