IPCAAS held international training course on fruit production technology
On July 7, 2015, the graduation ceremony of “The 4th International Training Course on Fruit Production Techniques for Developing Countries” was hold at the Research Institute of Pomology (IPCAAS) in Xingcheng of Liaoning Province, putting a success ending to the 15-day training course.
Sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, the course involved 21 participants from 7 Asian and African countries to introduce them with the cutting-edge fruit production techniques of China. Through lecturing, experiment and field visit, the participants got the chance to acquire knowledge and hands-on could trainings on the research, production and management for the fruit industry. “China is expected to be one of the best answers to solve the low efficiency and poverty of low income developing countries,” a participant shared his view at the graduation ceremony.
Since 2012, IPCAAS have successfully organized 4 training courses on fruit production technology to promote the capacity buildings of fruit industry in developing countries. More than 100 participants from 17 developing countries in Asia, Africa and Europe have been trained so far. These courses also facilitated the networking with developing countries to tackle common challenges in the development of fruit research and improvement of farmers’ livelihood. Up to now, 5 framework agreements and 6 specific cooperation agreements have been signed with agricultural research institutes in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Egypt, etc.
