CAAS and MSU Reach MOU on Cooperation
On May 12, CAAS Vice President Dr. Wu Kongming, met with Prof. Greg Bohach, Vice President of Mississippi State University (MSU) in Beijing. Both sides signed an MOU to advance agricultural technology and education cooperation.
Dr. Wu reviewed and highly praised the bilateral cooperation in recent years. The CAAS-MSU relationship features time-honored mutual understanding and support in various areas of agriculture, and both are marching forward steadily to inject new vigor and showing more and more positive signs, said Wu.
While introducing the research priorities and development strategies of CAAS, especially in the field of veterinary medicine, Wu added that both shall continue to promote scientist exchange to further tap the potential for cooperation in veterinary epidemiology, plant breeding and biomass energy, etc.
Prof. Bohach said that MSU stands ready to work with CAAS on the basis of mutual trust and coordination on agricultural issues of common concern. He suggested that the two sides put their complementary advantages into full play and further expand collaboration. Both sides reached consensus to carry out joint training program for graduate students in veterinary medicine and yielded fruitful results.
According to the MOU, joint efforts will first focus on influenza, parasitology, veterinary public health and epidemiology based on sound existing communication and exchange between the Shanghai Veterinary Research Institute of CAAS and the College of Veterinary Medicine of MSU.
Dr. Feng Dongxin, Director General of Department of International Cooperation, together with Luo Changfu, Deputy Dean of Graduate School of CAAS were present at the meeting.
