Secretary of the Leadership Party Group of CAAS Meets with Secretary of the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock
On June 18, Prof. Yang Zhenhai, Secretary of the Leadership Party Group of CAAS, met with Mr. Pedro Neto, Secretary for Innovation, Sustainable Development, Irrigation and Cooperatives at the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock of Brazil. The two sides exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation in agricultural science and technology and sustainable development between China and Brazil. Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS, also attended the meeting.
Prof. Yang Zhenhai emphasized that as major agricultural nations, China and Brazil share a strong consensus on key issues such as food security, green development, and low-carbon transition. He highlighted thatbilateral cooperation on sustainable development between China and Brazil is of global significance. Looking ahead, CAAS is committed to revitalizing the China–Brazil Joint Laboratory for Agricultural Sciences and expanding multi-sectoral collaboration. He proposed further strengthening technical exchange and joint talent development in agricultural sustainability within the frameworks of both bilateral governmental cooperation and the BRICS, contributing to sustainable agricultural development in both countries and the wider global community.
Mr. Pedro Neto expressed appreciation for the vital role CAAS plays in supporting China’s food security and stable supply of essential agricultural products through scientific innovation. He affirmed Brazil’s commitment to comprehensive cooperation between the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (EMBRAPA) and CAAS in the future.
The Agricultural Counselor of the Embassy of Brazil in China, along with officials from the Department of International Cooperation of CAAS, the Institute of Crop Sciences of CAAS, the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture of CAAS, and the Biotechnology Research Institute of CAAS, attended the meeting.
