CAAS encourages young professionals towards more active international exchange
During June16-19, the YPARD (Young Professionals for Agriculture Development) delegation led by its Steering Committee Chairman Dr. Codrin Paveliuc-Olariu visited CAAS in Beijing. Two sides organize series of events to promote young professionals’ international communication and cooperation.
The cooperation between Agriculture Information Institute (AII) of CAAS and YPARD began in 2011. To review the previous cooperation and identify priorities for future collaboration, a meeting was held in AII on 16 June. Prof. Meng Xianxu, AII Deputy Director General said, “The cooperation between AII and YPARD has made positive contribution to the capacity building of CAAS.” YPARD also expressed the strong willing to enhance the cooperation and support young Chinese professionals to join more international communications and establish YPARD Asia Office in AII. In the meeting, the delegates also explored commonly concerned areas for cooperation especially in climate change, food security, information and knowledge management, agribusiness and entrepreneurship, agricultural curriculum reform and youth focused capacity development.

YPARD is a global platform by and for youth to realize young professionals’ potential and contribute towards innovative agricultural development. YPARD cooperates with universities, research institutions, donor organizations, NGOs, CSOs, government agencies, extension, farmer organizations and private sector to achieve the following objectives:
-to facilitate global exchange of information and knowledge among young professionals,
-to broaden opportunities for young professionals to contribute to strategic ARD policy debates;
-to promote agriculture among young people;
-to facilitate access to resources and capacity building opportunities.
