Vice President Wu Kongming meets with Deputy Minister of AAFC

Wu reviewed the bilateral cooperation on agricultural science and technology between China and Canada, which has yielded remarkable achievements in the plant and animal genetic resources, integrated pest management, biotechnology, food processing, nutrition and health, sustainable agricultural production system and other agricultural research areas. He suggested that both sides intensify cooperation willprovide innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reduce the cost of agricultural production.
Lyon agreed with Wu’s proposal and appreciated CAAS’s contribution to China-Canada agricultural cooperation. She hoped that two sides would strengthen cooperation in bio-safety and biotechnology so as to cope with common challenges.
After the meeting, Wu and Lyon witnessed the signing of MOU between the Institute of Food and Nutrition Development of CAAS and the University of Manitoba.
