CNRRI established the Hybrid Rice Joint Research Center with Pakistan
On February 22nd, China National Rice Research Institute (CNRRI) warmly received the visiting Pakistani delegation headed by Dr. Atta ur Rahman, the former Pakistani Minister of Science and Technology, winner of “2014 Friendship Award of China” and Foreign Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). A Memorandum of Understanding on establishing the China-Pakistan Hybrid Rice Joint Research Center was signed.
The newly established China-Pakistan hybride rice joint research center will focus on the development of hybrid rice and be served as a platform for joint research, resources exchange, personnel training, technology transfer and commercialization for scientists and technicians from both China and Pakistan.
As a major rice producer with sound natural conditions and rich labor resources, Pakistan boasts huge potential hybrid rice development. The establishment of Joint Research Center will dovetail with China’s “Belt and Road” initiative, and promote the rice technology development of Pakistan.
