President Li Jiayang meets BMGF new Director for agricultural development

During the discussion, President Li appreciated the cooperation between CAAS and BMGF as it has shown great success, especially in the Green Super Rice Program which focused on the resources-poor in Africa and Asia and generated positive impact globally, greatly improving the rice productivity in the above regions.
With the prospect of increasing the range of collaboration, both sides agreed to initiating new project to deal with animal deceases control. Li also proposed to broaden the cooperation within agriculture sector, specifically in the area of animal vaccination, biogas, small agricultural machinery, and information technology. However, in the view of urgent demands for agricultural research talents in Africa, he called for joint efforts in the capacity building specifically for African agricultural researchers.
Anderson agreed with Li’s proposal with the hope that both sides would maintain close communication in the commonly concerned issues and harness more efforts to safeguard world food security.
