CAAS Enhances Scientific and Technical Cooperation with RDA
On December 11, 2015, Prof. Li Jiayang, Vice Agricultural Minister and CAAS President, met with the delegation led by Mr. Lee Yangho, Administrator of Rural Development Administration (RDA) of Republic of Korea. They signed MOU on establishment of the joint laboratory and Agreement on the additional cooperative projects starting from 2016. Prof. Li Jiayang and Mr. Lee Yangho launched the CAAS-RDA Joint Laboratory on Crop Science together, and deeply exchanged views on enhancing agricultural scientific and technical cooperation. Prof. Wu Kongming, CAAS Vice President, attended the meeting.


Prof. Li Jiayang briefed the updated development of CAAS, the Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Program (ASTIP), and the talent cultivation. He pointed out both sides should deepen scientific and technical cooperation based on the solid collaboration foundation. He suggested to strengthen the cooperation in the fields of agro-products quality, agro-environment, food security, agricultural policy, scientists exchange and capacity building. He advised to improve both sides’ cooperative level via promoting the construction of the joint laboratory to be the issue of China and Republic of Korea Agricultural Cooperation Council.
Mr. Lee Yangho agreed with his suggestion, and fully confirmed the cooperative achievement over the years. He said the agriculture in China and the agriculture in the Republic of Korea are alike but with difference. He expressed we should strengthen the construction of the joint laboratory, and push both sides’ scientific and technical cooperation forward.
RDA delegation visited National Agricultural Sciences and Technology Demonstration of CAAS, Key Facilities for Crop Gene Resources and Genetic Improvement, and National Genebank.
