Wu Kongming meets with Director of the Bioforsh
On Aril 8, CAAS Vice President Wu Kongming met with Nils Vagstad, Director of the Bioforsh (Norwegian Institute for Agricultural and Environmental Research) and his colleagues at CAAS headquarter in Beijing. The two sides exchanged views on extending partnership in agricultural science and technologies.
Norway developed advanced agricultural technologies for cold template zone, and Norway’s climate conditions have many similarities with Northeast China. The two sides share wide potentials for further cooperation. In the meeting, Wu briefed the guests with CAAS’ Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Program (ASTIP), which was initiated in early 2013 aiming at promoting novel innovation and leveraging research results to solve specific problems in China. Wu said, as a national level research institute, CAAS has always highlighted the role of innovation and technology promotion in boosting agricultural production in China. Further cooperation and exchange in agricultural technologies between the two sides would benefit both countries. Signing of MOU between the Institute of Plant Protection (IPP) and Bioforsh has laid a solid foundation for bilateral cooperation. Wu proposed to expand scope for future cooperation between the two institutes.
Vagstad agreed with WU’s proposal and hoped the bilateral partnership would be cemented and extend to researches on soil, water, environment and agricultural sustainability.
