CIAT Delegation Visited CAAS
January 21 2009, Dr. Geoff Hawtin, Director General and Rod Lefroy, Coordinator in Asian Affairs of International Center for Tropical Agriculture visited CAAS. Dr. Xifeng Gong, Deputy Director General of DIC, CAAS met with the delegation.
Through heated discussion, CAAS and CIAT intend to strengthen their cooperation in agricultural information, legumes, forage grass and biotechnology. A Project Office or CIAT Representative Office may be set up in CAAS as the platform for further cooperation. The two organizations have also agreed on hosting a joint scientist summit in CAAS this year.
CIAT is one of the 15 centers under CGIAR. This is the first visit of Dr. Geoff Hawtin after he assumed office.
