ASAC Delegation attends the 12th AAA Conference and Exhibition
A large Chinese apicultural delegation, led by Dr. Wu Jie, Director of Bee Research Institute (BRI) of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Chairman of Apicultural Science Association of China (ASAC), attended the 12th Asian Apicultural Association (AAA) Conference and Exhibition on April 24-27, 2014 in Antalya, Turkey. The conference, with the theme of ‘Save the World Bee’, attracted 420 registered representatives from more than 30 countries and regions.
ASAC Chairman Wu Jie and Secretary-General Chen Lihong were invited to host two workshops separately. The presentations of the delegation covers various topics, one of which introduces apicultural safety and standardization policies of Ministry of Agriculture and poverty alleviation projects, models, and apicultural mechanization of ASAC, aroused the interest of listeners. Many of them expressed their willingness to cooperate with ASAC and China.
It is learned that there were 14 Chinese exhibition booths out of the total 30 ones, taking up nearly half of the booths in the exhibition. Although the exhibition scale is small, all the exhibitors achieved rewarding results, with 20 on-site product deals and more than 10 orders. AAA President also appreciated these products and offered constructive comments on his visit to the booths.
In addition, the delegation paid a visit to local queen bee breeding apiaries and bee keeping equipment company in Turkey to draw on advanced technologies and experiences in producing bee hives and new beekeeping facilities, and make agreements on further exchange and cooperation.
