Li Jiayang Meets with the Australian Delegation of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization
On May 12, Dr. Li Jiayang, Vice Minister of Agriculture, President of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences met with the delegation of Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO) led by Dr. John Manners, Director of CSIRO Agriculture Business Unit. Both sides exchanged views on further deepening agricultural science and technology cooperation.
Dr. Li Jiayang pointed out that CSIRO owns leading technologies in animal husbandry, crop breeding and intelligent agriculture. CAAS values the cooperation with CSIRO through ASTIP and Flagship Projects of CSIRO. Special focus should be put on the two priority areas, that are oilcrops processing & high value of utilization and sustainable agricultural technology, on the basis of which to further expand areas of cooperation.
Dr. John manners introduced CSIRO’s international cooperation strategy and the application of core agricultural S&T achievements. He noted that CSIRO is looking forward to an indepth communication with CAAS scientists, and would further deepen agricultural S&T cooperation with CAAS.
The delegation visited the laboratories of the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning (IARRP) later, and had an academic workshop with experts from IARRP, Institute of Crop Sciences (ICS) and Agricultural Information Institute (AII).
