Prof. Xu Yinlong Attended the WMO WCRP/WGRC Expert Meeting on Climate Information ‘Distillation’
On October 29-31, Professor XU Yinlong, principal scientist of the Innovative Team of Climate Change and Utilization of Agro-climatic Resources of CAAS, was invited to the WMO-WRCP Expert Meeting on Climate Information ‘Distillation’ in Santander, Spain, as the representative of UNEP Programme of Research on Climate Change Vulnerability, Impact and Adaptation ( PROVIA).
Organized by World Climate Research Program (WCRP) Working Group on Regional Climate (WGRC), this meeting was aiming to foster innovation in the analysis and interpretation of multi-model multi-method multi-scale (M5S) regional climate information, develop a research agenda to address distillation challenges for climate information at regional scales, and serve as a substantial step forward to provide accurate and relevant regional climate information for uptake by broader community interests. At this meeting, Xu gave a presentation entitled “PROVIA’s Perspective on Climate Information ‘Distillation’” on behalf of UNEP PROVIA Science Steering Committee (SSC). He shared his views on how to address the certainty of regional climate information, how to speed up the application of updated regional climate scenarios in the local adaptation actions, how to build the capacity, and how to establish a joint working group between WCRP and PROVIA.
XU has been a member of UNEP PROVIA SSC since May, 2014. He is responsible for adaption policy-briefing, communications with WMO, and the representative of PROVIA SSC for coordinating Asian adaptation activities.
