CAAS and ILRI Inaugurate Joint Laboratory for Ruminant Disease Control
On 9th June, the Joint Laboratory for Ruminant Disease Control between Chinese Academy of Agriculture Sciences (CAAS) and International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) was inaugurated in Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute (LVRI) of CAAS. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Luo Jianxun, Deputy Director General of LVRI and the visiting ILRI delegation led by its Deputy Director General, Prof. Iain Wright.


ILRI is one of the 15 CGIAR centers and is dedicated to animal disease control globally with special focusing on the epidemic diseases in African continent. And ILRI of CAAS enjoys great reputation in studying of ruminant diseases in China. The establishment of CAAS-ILRI Joint Laboratory is based on the shared interests in the field of animal disease control research and complementary advantages in terms of regional characteristics, species of pathogens and research directions of ILRI and LVRI. The joint laboratory is envisioned to be an efficient and win-win platform for scientific research, capability building, and development of novel products.
After the ceremony, the two sides also discussed cooperative priorities and potential collaborative projects in terms of CCPP (contagious caprine pleuropneumonia), PPR (peste des petits ruminants), FMD (foot and mouth disease), and Africa swine fever, etc.
