The Consultation Meeting about Establishing Global Agricultural Data and Information Sharing Framework was held in Beijing from June 20th to 23rd, which was hosted by FAO and GFAR and co-organized by CIARD and CAAS.

Dr. LIU Xu, Vice President of CAAS cut the ribbon for China CIARD RING network. Mark Holderness, secretary general of GFAR, and Dr. XU Shi-wei, Director General of the Institute of Agricultural Information of CAAS, also attended the opening ceremony.

The theme of the meeting is to step up the cooperation between international and regional research institutes. It aimed to promote agricultural research, develop agricultural data and information sharing, and improve the interoperability of agricultural information system. Another target was to seek, obtain and make full use of information about the latest progress in agricultural research so that more comprehensive, precise and convenient service could be provided to farmers. The experts exchanged their experience in information sharing and basically set up the comprehensive and detailed CIARD Data and Information Sharing Framework.
