One July 16, President Li Jiayang met with the visiting Mozambique Agricultural Minister José Pacheco in CAAS. The two sides exchanged views on further promoting the bilateral agricultural science and technology cooperation. Li briefed the guests about the Academy’s new strategy towards a world-class research organization. “China and Mozambique face similar challenges and problems in agricultural research and development. And as a leading agricultural research institution in China, CAAS will be glad to contribute more to the Sino-African agriculture cooperation in the coming days”, Li said. He proposed to further promote and strengthen S&T cooperation in the fields of plant breeding, plant and animal decease control, agricultural mechanization, exchange of genetic resources, and student training, etc.

Pacheco expressed his appreciation for CAAS’ development and agreed with Li’s suggestion on promoting cooperation on agricultural researches.

High rank officials from the MOA and Mozambique Embassy in Beijing attended the meeting.
