April 12-18 2010, Dr. Huqu Zhai, President of CAAS participated in the 2010 meeting of the Board of Trustees of IRRI, where he and other board members reviewed IRRI’s 2010 plans for research programs, scientists recruitment and budget. They also discussed the role of IRRI in CGIAR reform. China, India and ROK were considered to participate in the Global Rice Science Partnership (GriSP) led by IRRI. CAAS was invited to be a major player in some key programs.

During the meeting period, Dr. Huqu Zhai also had bilateral meetings with Dr. Mangala Rai, member of the Board of Trustees of IRRI and President of Indian Academy of Agricultural Sciences; Dr. Iwamotto, President of Japan Society for Technology Innovation of. Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Dr. Kim Jae- Soo, the Administrator of the Rural Development Administration in Korea and Dr. Danilo, Deputy Executive Director of the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD). 

The Board of Trustees of IRRI is the highest decision-making body of IRRI, consisting of 15 world renowned scientists and science management experts. Dr. Huqu Zhai became a member of the board in January 2010.
