Wu Kongming meets Director of Rothamsted Research
On June 9, Vice President Wu Kongming met with Dr. Achim Dobermann, Director of Rothamsted Research (RRes). The two sides exchanged views on strengthening agricultural S&T cooperation, the preparation for establishing of the Joint China-UK Centre for Sustainable Intensification in Agriculture (CSIA) in particular.

Wu appreciated the close ties and fruitful cooperation between CAAS and RRes, which can be seen from frequent exchanges between high-levels, scientists and scholars and the joint commitments by scientist from our both institutes in various fields, including soil and grassland ecosystem, climate change, plant science, etc. “With increasing concern of the food safety and agricultural sustainability worldwide, it is the perfect time for us to establish CSIA and build it into the center for scientist exchanges, information sharing and cooperative research,” added Wu.
Achim Dobermann said that the research strategy of RRes fits well with the development priorities of CAAS. He endorsed Wu’s proposal with the hope that the establishment of CSIA will elevate the bilateral collaboration to a new height.
