Sino-US Joint Laboratory of Plant Senescence Launched in Qingdao
On August 31, 2015, the Tobacco Research Institute (TRI) of CAAS signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Plant Senescence Research Laboratory, School of Integrative Plant Science of Cornell University to jointly establish the Sino-US Joint Laboratory of Plant Senescence.

The newly established joint research platform aims to promote scientific innovation and enhance academic exchange in the area of plant senescence. It will focus on the fundamental research related to plant senescence, tobacco cell wall polysaccharide metabolism, tobacco axillary bud growth and regulation. TRI will offer lab space, facilities and related resources, while Cornell University will share advanced technologies and professional expertise in the field of plant senescence, and provide training to researchers and graduate students of TRI.
Before the ceremony, Professor Susheng Gan also delivered an academic lecture entitled “Toward molecular understanding and genetic manipulation of leaf senescence”.
