CAAS Delegation Attends CGIAR Science Week 2025
From April 6 to 12, 2025, Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS, led a delegation to Nairobi, Kenya, to attend CGIAR Science Week 2025. During the event, the delegation presented the initial G2P International Mega Science Project, deepened partnerships with African counterparts, and promoted the China-Africa Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (CAASTIA).
Throughout the Science Week, the delegation delivered speeches on key topics, provided a comprehensive overview of the G2P project, and called for broader involvement from international partners. The delegation also presented China’s major achievements in seed technology, land management, green development, climate change mitigation, and prevention and control of zoonotic diseases.
In addition, the CAAS delegation also held meetings with representatives from CGIAR, the African Union-Interafrican Bureau for Animal Resources (AU-IBAR), the CABI Africa Regional Centre, and the Africa Rice Center (AfricaRice). The discussions focused on animal disease prevention and control, identification and utilization of rice genetic resources, capacity building in African countries, and the future cooperation under the framework of CAASTIA.
The CAAS delegation included senior officials from Department of International Cooperation, Department of Major R&D Programs, Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, and Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute.
