BIOMA is designated as FAO Reference Center
Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture (BIOMA) was designated by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) as “FAO Reference Center for Biogas Research and Training” on May 5, 2014.
Ms. Maria Helena Semedo (the Deputy Director-General and Coordinator of Natural Resources of FAO) wrote to Li Qian (the Director General of BIOMA) informing him about the designation made by FAO following careful evaluation base on mandate, main activities and competencies of BIOMA on its attainment to pursue scientific, technical and policy issue. The evaluation also considered the commitment BIOMA has on strengthening capacity development and exchange of know-how, as well as experience in the areas that are relevant to FAO’s mandate in the same field. Added advantage was given to BIOMA due to the extent and experience of working and collaborating with FAO for long time.
With this, BIOMA will continue to strengthen collaboration with FAO in the area of biogas by providing support on technical and policy issue in order to fulfill the FAO’s mandate and strategic objectives for the next four years. The official designation ceremony will be held later this year.
