Mexican Agricultural Minister Visited CAAS
October 20, the Mexican delegation led by Dr. Francisco Javier Mayorga Castañeda, Minister of the Mexican Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Rural Development, Fishery and Food Ministry was received by senior officials from the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture and senior management of CAAS.
Dr. Zhai Huqu, president of CAAS pointed out that China and Mexico should extend their cooperation from maize and wheat breeding and cultivation to the exchange of germplasm resources, agricultural machinery and integrated pest management. The Mexican minister applauded the suggestion by adding gene discovery, reduction of GHG emission and water-saving irrigation as potential collaboration areas.
Mr. Xie Jianmin, DDG, Department of International Cooperation. Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Tang Huajun, vice president of CAAS and Dr. Gong Xifeng, DDG for international cooperation of CAAS joined the meeting.
