Li Jiayang Met with the Chairman of Agriculture and Forestry Committee of the Parliament of Finland
On April 18, Li Jiayang, Vice Minister of Agriculture, President of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) met with Finnish delegation led by Jari Leppä, Chairman of Agriculture and Forestry Committee of the Parliament( AFCP) of Finland. Both sides exchanged views on further deepening agricultural science and technology cooperation.
Li Jiayang briefly introduced the basic situation of the CAAS and the existing agricultural science and technology cooperation with Finland. Li stressed that Finland is a Nordic country with advanced agricultural science and technology, and broad application of high and new technologies. CAAS values the cooperation with Finland and hopes to enhance joint researches in fields such as food safety, meat processing, dairy industry, veterinary medicine and vaccine development, environmental protection, agricultural sustainable development, natural resources utilization and so on. Li pointed out that CAAS maintains good cooperation with National Technology Research Center of Finland (VTT), Agrifood Research Finland (MTT) and other Finnish agricultural research institutions, and had achieved remarkable progresses.Li hoped that both sides could continue to strengthen scientific personnel exchange and talent cultivation, to jointly apply for research funding, such as the Horizon 2020 Project of the EU, the international cooperation projects of Chinese National Natural Science Foundation and so on.
Jari Leppä noted that Finland has always attached great importance to cooperation with China in agricultural science and technology, and will further deepen cooperation with CAAS in the areas mentioned by President Li Jiayang.
