ISU President visits CAAS and lectures at the Graduate School
Wu spoke highly of the collaboration accomplished by the two sides in the research fields of poultry, sustainable agriculture and agro-processing. “Shared interests in the corn, soybean, hog and poultry researches implies huge potential for our future cooperation,” Wu said. He also suggested more intensive exchanges and cooperation based on the China-US Agricultural Environment Center, which was established in 2003.
Leath fully agreed with Wu's proposal. He suggested the two sides establish the CAAS-ISU Center for Agriculture and Rural Development in proper time, which will focus on risk management in agriculture, agricultural trade, policies and regulations.
After the meeting, Leath visited the National Agricultural Technology Demonstration Park, the National Gene Bank and the National Key Facility for Crop Gene Resources and Genetic Improvement.
During his stay at CAAS, Prof. Leaf gave a lecture entitled “Iowa State University: A Leader in Advancing Agriculture" at the Graduate School of CAAS. He shared with students and young scholars how Iowa State is building off its strong foundation of excellence and innovation to meet agriculture's grand challenges of today and tomorrow.
