The Fifth Meeting of the China-EU Task Force in Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology held in Beijing
The 5th meeting of the China-EU Task Force in Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology (FAB) took place in Beijing on 4 June 2015. More than 20 officials and experts from the EU headquarters and its Beijing office, the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), CAAS, Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), Chinese Academy of Forestry, Chinese Academy of Fishery, and China Agricultural University attended this event.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes and joint achievements since the Horizon 2020 officially launched at the beginning of 2014. As for the second phase of the Horizon 2020 FAB flagship (2016-2017), the meeting agreed on the list of five topics of common interests in the fields of plant breeding for legume crops, animal production and welfare, urban agriculture, food safety and transparency of processed agro-food products and the management of soil water resources, etc. Moreover, both China side and EU side recognized that the role of the FAB Task Force in China-EU R&I cooperation should be enhanced, and some actions need to be carried out to promote its activities, such as to set up a webpage in both English and Chinese languages to expand visibility on its role and the importance of its activities.
