IPNI is a global organization with initiatives addressing the world's growing need for food, fuel, fiber and feed. On April 22, Wu Kongming, Vice President of CAAS met Dr. Terry Roberts, Director of International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) to exchange views on cooperation between both sides.

During the meeting, Wu fully acknowledged the close partnership between CAAS and IPNI for the past two decades. In recent past, issues on food safety and environment pollution have created intriguing debate worldwide, unfortunately, not much has been done as the problems still existing especially in the fertilizer management and application.
“I would like to see the collaboration growing stronger especially in the area of crop nutrition and soil fertilizer management base on the ‘Plant Nutrition Joint Innovation Laboratory’ co-founded by CAAS and IPNI. The collaboration will not only promote agricultural productivity but also promote environment’s sustainable development.”, as Wu said during the meeting.
Roberts appreciated Wu’s proposals, and commented by saying that the first committee meeting of the joint lab held two days ago has been very successful. He continued, “Compared with other countries, the collaboration with China has been more unique and effective. Hoped the joint lab, will continue to develop new area of interest that can be applicable in the international programs”.
At the end of the meeting, both sides reached a broad consensus on collaborative objectives and modality to achieve the objectives.
