CAAS Professor JIANG He-ping Won China-Africa Friendship Award
On November 26th, Professor JIANG He-ping, from Institute of Agricultural Economics and Development (IAE) of CAAS, was conferred the 4th China-Africa Friendship Award for his outstanding contribution in promoting Sino-Africa friendship and agriculture development in Africa.
JIANG is the Director of the Department of Agro-Technical Economics and Scientific and Technological Development of IAE and a PhD Candidates supervisor of CAAS. He is also the associate secretary-general of the Society of Agro-technological Economics and the trustee of China Agricultural Economics Association.
In the past several years, JIANG has devoted to a procession of bilateral cooperative programs supported by China central government, aiming at boosting the agricultural development and improving the agricultural S&T level of African countries. In 2007, the Planning for Agricultural Development in Angola was approved by the Angola government; in 2009, the Regional Agricultural Development Program in Congo was approved by the government of Republic of Congo. During 2007 to 2012, JIANG participated in the feasibility studies program on nine African countries for joint establishment of Sino-African Agricultural Demonstration Centers in nine African countries and shared his expertise with local governments in the planning, construction and operation of these centers.
The China-Africa Friendship Award, initiated by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CAPFA) in 2006, is to commend individuals and groups from both China and Africa who have made outstanding contribution to promoting Sino-African friendship and enjoy fames and popularities in both China and Africa.
