Prof. Ryosuke Shibasaki Wins Chinese Government Friendship Award
On September 30, 2015, Prof. Tang Huajun, Vice president of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences(CAAS), met with Prof. Ryosuke Shibasaki from University of Tokyo, who won the 2015 Chinese Government Friendship Award.


On September 29, the 2015 Chinese Government Friendship Award ceremony was held in the Great Hall of the People. Vice Premier Ma Kai, personally presented the award to Prof. Shibasaki. On September 30, Shibasaki and his wife were invited by Premier Li Keqiang to attend the 66 anniversary of the National Day Reception of the People's Republic of China.

On behalf of Prof. Li Jiayang, Vice Minister of Agriculture and President of CAAS, Tang congratulated Prof. Shibasaki for winning the prestigious award, and thanked him for his outstanding contributions to CAAS over the past 20 years. Tang also hopes CAAS and University of Tokyo to carry out more extensive cooperation, especially in the filed of spatial information technology, agricultural remote sensing, and big data, etc. Prof. Shibasaki said that the Friendship Award is not only for his personal achievement, but also for the successful cooperation between CAAS and University of Tokyo.
Ryosuke Shibasaki, an internationally renowned scientist from Spatial Information Science Research Center, University of Tokyo, has served as Chairman of the Asian Institute of Geographical Information Systems, Director of Spatial Information Science Research Center of University of Tokyo, has made great contributions to basic theory and applied research for spatial information science. In the past 20 years, Shibasaki has been keeping close cooperation and exchanges with CAAS in the field of agricultural information technology. By transfering the technology, postgraduate education training and giving lectures in China, he has advanced the international influence of our agricultural remote sensing team and has promoted the development of agricultural information technology for CAAS. 8 PHD students, 8 postdoctorals and 5 master students from china were supervised by Ryosuke Shibasaki , many of them have been selected as the talents in "Hundred Talents Program", "Young Talents Program", "Zijiang scholar", " Taishan Scholar ", etc.
