Wu Kongming meets with ADG of FAO
On March 26th, Wu Kongming, the Vice President of CAAS met Wang Ren, the Assistant Director-General of FAO to exchanged views on further cooperation in capacity building.
Wu Kongming welcomed Wang Ren’s and appreciated his continued concern about CAAS’s development and proactive efforts in promoting cooperation between the two sides since he assume post in FAO. Wu Kongming said, “Basing on the agreement reached in 2012 when Director-General of FAO José Graziano da Silva visited CAAS, the two sides have continually promoted multi-level cooperation, intensified communication, and further identified the focus and priority of cooperation”. He also said that under the sponsorship of State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, CAAS will send two young scientists to FAO for one year’s training, which would develop their horizons and improve their scientific innovation capabilities; and hoped that FAO will support.
Agreeing with that Wang Ren elucidated the development strategies of FAO and a series of initiatives for promoting the sustainable development of global agriculture. Wang Ren also expressed his willingness to promote bilateral cooperation, and encouraged young scientists to undertake short-term work in FAO. He said he has open door policy for any support needed and willing to support whenever necessary.
