9th Summit for Agricultural Environment Sciences Holds in Shanghai
Recently, 9th Summit for Agricultural Environment Sciences and Meeting for National Research Collaboration Network for Agricultural Environment (NRCNAE) was held in Shanghai, under the theme of “Agricultural Ecological Civilization”, “Development Driven by Innovation” and “Agricultural Environment Science”. This event was hosted by Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture (IEDA), Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and China Agricultural Meteorology Society (CAMS), Society of Agronomy (SA), and co-organized by Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Zhang Yanqing, IEDA Director General.
Academic reports were collected from 20 experts from Chinese Academy of Sciences, Peking University, CAAS, Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other key research institutions, universities and meteorological agencies in other provinces, cities and autonomous regions. The reports conducted scientific analysis from different perspectives, including biotechnology, information technology, agricultural eco-security, prevention and reduction of disaster in agricultural field, agricultural pollution control, habitat environmental security and agricultural resource recycling. These reports were well received among participants for their novelty and inspirational nature.
9th Summit was held in the context of the establishment of National Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation Alliance (NASTIA). Consensus was reached in four aspects at the meeting: To establish Chinese (Scientific) Society of Agricultural Environment; secondly, to pay attention to issues concerning ecological stereo-agriculture, ecological diversity, resource and waste recycling and agricultural clean watershed, to turn issues into projects regarding agricultural environment and sustainable development in key areas, and to absorb participation of business corporations in NASTIA in the future.
Over 120 experts and scholars from more than 50 units attended this meeting, including members of Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Environmental Protection, CAAS, China Meteorological Administration, CAMS, NRCNAE and other key research institutions and universities from 27 provinces, cities and autonomous regions.
