BIOMA holds training course on biogas technology
On May 27, 2015, the “Training Course on Biogas Technology for African English-speaking Countries in 2015” opened at the Biogas Institute of Ministry of Agriculture (BIOMA) in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province.
The 7-week training (from May 27 to July 9), sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, is trying to help the participants to learn advanced biogas technology in China, and let this biogas expertise to contribute to the utilization of renewable energies and ecological protection in rural areas. 31 participants from 12 African countries joined this training course. Just as Mr. Justice Tsolo, a participant from Lesotho, said on the opening ceremony that, biogas is expected to be one of the best answers to solve the energy and environment challenges in Africa. He also hoped that such kind of training course could serve as a starting point of future cooperation between China and Africa.

BIOMA, as the national leading research institute in biogas research, has successfully organized a series of training programs in the past recent years, mainly focused on biogas technology, wastewater treatment, rural energy and environmental protection, biogas industry promotion and management, etc.
In last May, BIOMA was designated as the FAO reference center for biogas research and training. To fulfill the FAO’s mandate and strategic objectives, the institute will continue to strengthen the South-South cooperation in the area of biogas by providing support on technical and policy issue.
