Li Jiayang meets new Director of Rothamsted Research

On May 14th, President Li Jianyang met with Professor Achim Dobermann, the new Director of Rothamsted Research of the UK at CAAS to exchange views on strengthening partnership between the two institutions.

Li expressed his congratulation to Dobermann on assuming the new post in Rothamsted Research and briefed the guest with the Academy’s latest research development and its strategic innovation program, the agricultural science and technology innovation program (ASTIP).


“Since the two sides reached the MOU on scientific cooperation in June 2013”, Li said, “the collaboration between CAAS and Rothamsted Research has made remarkable progress, in particular in the fields of soil and fertilizer, grassland ecosystem, climate change and crop sciences, which has yielded fruitful results”. He proposed the two sides to set up a joint research center in the future.

Dobermann agreed with Li’s proposal. He said that Rothamsted Research is keen to collaborate with CAAS in common concerned areas and will promote the bilateral collaboration towards a strategic partnership in the near future.


According to the web news from Rothamsted Research, Dobermann will take up his new post in Rothamsted Research on June 1st, 2014.

Zhang Lubiao, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation and other experts from CAAS institutes attended the meeting.
