WANG Ren Attends IAEA Scientific Forum and Delivers Keynote Speech
At the invitation of the IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano, CAAS Vice President WANG Ren attended the Scientific Forum of the 56th IAEA General Conference held in Vienna from September 17-21 and delivered a keynote speech on increasing food production.
In his speech, WANG analyzed the strain and challenges brought about by rapid population growth on food production and shared the experiences and practices in the terms of China’s cooperation with IAEA and its member states in nuclear agricultural sciences. He highlighted that international cooperation is an important way to ensure the global food security, and acclaimed the role played by IAEA and FAO in applying nuclear technologies to food production promotion.
Cooperation in nuclear agriculture between China and IAEA began in the 1960s. Currently, up to 11 CAAS institutes have extensive cooperation in nuclear agriculture with IAEA.
