Prof. Sun Tan, Vice President of CAAS, addressed the opening ceremony. He highlighted the pivotal role of tea in rural development and poverty alleviation, both in China and the broader developing world. Citing the “Silk Road Spirit” of promoting peaceful collaboration, openness, inclusiveness, mutual learning, and mutually beneficial outcomes, Prof. Sun called for enhanced partnerships and knowledge exchange within the field of tea research.

In his welcome remark, Prof. Jiang Renhua, Director General of TRI CAAS, underscored the crucial significance of technological advancements in the tea sector for the development of the industry in a global sense, emphasizing their far-reaching impact on the economies of regions in developing countries. Prof. Jiang also extended the institute’s commitment to advancing the global tea research community, fostering collaboration and innovation for the sustainable development of the tea industry worldwide.

International Tea Research Roundtable - Fostering Global Collaboration in Tea Science

A pivotal highlight of the forum was the International Tea Research Roundtable, where leaders in the tea research community engaged in profound discussions on the current challenges facing the global tea industry, and shared insights on collaborative initiatives.

Jingshan Declaration for Sustainable Global Tea Development

The Jingshan Declaration, unveiled during the forum, not only reaffirms the shared vision and commitment of global leaders in the tea research community but also introduces a focused emphasis on practical cooperation. Building upon the foundations of the 2019 Hangzhou Declaration, this new consensus zooms in on key aspects such as research projects, talent training, and capacity building.
