On February 26th, Mr. Chen Mengshan, Secretary of the Leading Party Group of CAAS, met with Mr. Jari Koskinen, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) of Finland at CAAS headquarters in Beijing. The two sides reached consensus on further promoting bilateral cooperation in agricultural science and technology.

Chen expressed satisfaction with the science and technology cooperation between the two sides. A series of fruitful scientific exchanges have been conducted since CAAS and the Agri-food Research Institute, MTT reached the cooperation agreement in September 2012.

Chen pointed out, China and Finland are highly complementary with each other in agricultural development, and the two both have great potential in agricultural research. He proposed to strengthen cooperation in the following aspects: firstly, to boost in-depth cooperation in the areas of animal husbandry, biotechnology, and food processing, etc; secondly, to initiate personnel training and postgraduate exchange program; thirdly, to jointly apply for major projects.
