Three international workshops on plant pathology held in Beijing
A series of three international workshops on plant pathology, the 2nd Beijing International Symposium on Molecular Plant Pathology, the 4th International Cereal Nematode Initiative Workshop and International Workshop on Viroids and Satellite RNAs, were held in Beijing from August 22 to 25. Nearly 460 plant pathologists from more than 40 countries attended these workshops.

The 2nd Beijing International Symposium on Molecular Plant Pathology focused on interaction between pathogens and host plants, defence resistance of host plants to the pathogens, and biology of plant pathogens.
The 4th International Cereal Nematode Initiative Workshop mainly focused on the global status of the distribution of cereal nematodes, the economic importance and biology of cereal nematodes, control strategies of the Cereal Cyst Nematodes (CCN) in wheat using host resistance, control strategies of CCN other than host resistance, the molecular diagnosis of CCN, genome and parasitism genes, biological control, and integrated pest management (IPM).
The International Workshop on Viroids and Satellite RNAs covered topics on the identification and characterization of new/emerging viroids and viroid-like RNAs and risk assessment, plant responses to viroid and satellite infections, detection methods and control of viroids, genetic diversity and replication, detection methods and control of viroids, etc.
Institute of Plant Protection of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (IPP-CAAS), the organizer of the above workshops, is one of the leading research institutes on crop pest control in China. In recent years, researchers from IPP-CAAS have published more than 90 papers on the Plant Cell, the Plant Physiology and other top-tier academic journals in the world.
