Breakthrough in testing technology for typical chemical pollutants in agro-products

Recently, “The research and application of accurate recognition and confirmatory testing key technology for the typical chemical pollutants in agro-products” initiated by the Institute of Quality Standards &Testing Technology for Agro-Products(IQSTTAP) of CAAS has been evaluated by a panel of peer experts. The technology for typical chemical pollutants in agro-products has made major breakthroughs in biomimetic materials preparation and membrane immobilization. The accurate recognition and confirmatory testing technology developed by IQSTTAP of CAAS could play a positive role to solve problems including the incomplete varieties of rapid testing products, the insufficient detection sensitivity of current rapid detection method and the complicated sample pretreatment procedure in China. In recent years, the problem of agro-products quality and safety in China happens frequently. The typical chemical pollutants including pesticides, pesticide adjuvants, veterinary drugs, environmental pollutants and the banned additives are the major hazardous factors, which impact the agro-products quality and safety in China. The way to develop the accurate, rapid, stable testing technology, and to build the testing technology system combined by rapid testing technology and confirmatory testing technology, has become the problem confronted, so that it is urgent to implement the efficient monitoring and supervising in agro-products quality and safety. To overcome the key technology obstacles that restricted the efficient monitoring and supervising in agro-products quality and safety, with ten-year effort, the “Agricultural chemical pollutants residue detection and behavior” innovation team headed by Prof. Wang Jing has achieved the breakthrough progress. The panel headed by Academician Sun Bao-guo and Academician Zhang Gai-ping highlighted the scientific and technological achievement.

As for the scientific and technological achievement, 6 kinds of molecularly imprinted solid phase extraction columns were developed, and the rapid sample pretreatment platform with the advantages of strong enrichment capability, good purification ability and environmentally-friendly feature was established. The influence of the interaction between catalyst and enhancer to the stability of the chemiluminescent immunoassay system was discovered, the detection sensitivity of the stable chemiluminescent immunoassay was improved one order of magnitude than the detection sensitivity of enzyme linked immunoassay; the confirmatory testing technology to 3 kinds of pesticide adjuvants was developed, meanwhile the multi-residue confirmatory testing methods to plant growth regulators, herbicides, environmental pollutants, illegal additives were established and 5 categories of more than 300 kinds of hazardous factors could be detected by the multi-residue testing methods. Meanwhile, 143 papers including 55 SCI cited papers were published, 9 national invention patents were authorized, and 7 national / agricultural industry standards were drafted. The evaluation panel reached a consensus that the achievement has arrived at the international leading level. It will provide with strong technology support to supervision of agro-products quality and safety, agro-products out permission from the origin, market access, and will play an important role to ensure the agro-products quality and safety in China.
