National key laboratory for cotton biology passes acceptance check
The National Key Laboratory for Cotton Biology, jointly established by Cotton Research Institute (CRI) of Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) and Henan University, completed the construction phase and passed the acceptance check on Jan.7, 2014.

The project was launched in October 2011 after approved by Ministry of Science & Technology. With the substantial support of Ministry of Agriculture, the People's Government of Henan Province and CAAS, Cotton Research Institute and Henan University successfully completed the building part.
Over two years' time, the lab made full use of a total investment of more than 22.56 million yuan. It was granted with 1 national level prize and 4 provincial S&T awards. 126 papers were published in core journals, among which 46 in SCI and 1 in Nature Genetics. Besides, the lab developed 7 new cotton varieties and 4 of them were granted with new variety protection rights. It also obtained 24 national invention patents and developed a team of high-profile personnels including one academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
In addition, the lab was rather active in hosting or participating in workshops and symposiums at home and abroad. It has established an efficient operation mechanism and a complete regulatory system, fully in line with the requirements and standards of the acceptance check.
