“First Agricultural Nanotechnology Forum” Held in Beijing
On May 20th, “the First Agricultural Nanotechnology Forum and the Second Anniversary of Agricultural Nanotechnology Research Centre of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences” hosted by CAAS and undertaken by Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture of CAAS was held in Beijing. About 160 leaders and experts from Chinese Academy of Sciences, National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, Tsinghua University and CAAS attended the meeting.
Dr. LIU Xu, Vice President of CAAS, presided the meeting and delivered opening remarks. He elaborated on the trend of agricultural nanotechnology, summarized the progresses in research work and achievements of CAAS and put forward the tasks and priorities in the next stage.
At the meeting, ZHA Lian-fang, secretary of National Center for Nanoscience and Technology (NCNST) introduced the basic facts about NCNST and suggested the deeper cooperation between two institutions. XIE Si-shen and JIANG Lei, both academicians of Chinese Academy of Sciences, delivered academic reports titled “China’s Research Plan on Nanotechnology” and “the Application of Bionic Nano Materials in Agriculture” respectively. Focusing on the ecology of nanotechnology, experts also introduced the application of nano materials in fertilizer, veterinary drug and vaccine, feed and plant protection and other areas.
Agricultural Nanotechnology Research Centre of CAAS was established in 2009. It is grounded in the Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development in Agriculture and integrates the talents and resources of nine research institutions including Institute of Plant Protection, Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning and Harbin Institute of Veterinary Research.
