Forward LASSO the method for meat (beef) quality traits study
Recently, Dr. Li Junya and his research team from the Institute of Animal Sciences (IAB), CAAS introduced a new method for meat (beef) quality traits study, called Forward LASSO analysis for high-order interactions in genome-wide association study, which was published on line by Briefings in Bioinformatics, one of the most famous journals in the world hosted by Oxford University.

This newly method expected to solve the problem on high-order interactions among SNPs with a huge number of genetic effects that made the LASSO failing to work under the old computation method. The article published narrated how Forward LASSO analysis can shrink most of genetic effects to be zeros stage by stage. However, simulation demonstrates that the newly introduced method could be used instead of the LASSO method for full model in mapping high-order interactions. Application of forward LASSO method is provided to Wide Association Study (GWAS) for carcass (beef) traits quality study.
