Winner of the NSFC-funded Creative Research Group Project in 2013
The Institute of Plant Protection (IPP) of CAAS announced recently that the cotton pest research team got the Creative Research Group Project (CRGP) titled by “Interactions among cotton, insect pests and natural enemies”, a project funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). According to the reports, only 29 research teams received the NSFC-funded Creative Research Group Projects this year in China.
The team’s chief scientist is Professor Wu Kongming, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). And other key members include 5 full professors and 4 associate professors. Supported by this NSFC-funded CRGP, the team members intend to systemically study the interactions among cottons, pests and natural enemies to in-depth analyze co-evolution mechanisms between pests and cotton as well as pests and natural enemies from the agricultural ecosystem, community, population, individual and gene levels that would provide the theoretical basis for development of the new strategy, new method and new technology of the sustainable pest management.
